A TowerMat storage lift with 16 towers and over 350 cassettes in total, for the storage of tubes and bar materials, was constructed for a leading steel handler in Switzerland, BRÜTSCH & RÜEGGER METALS AG. 2 saws, including a BEHRINGER band saw, are connected to the dynamic storage system which provides a load capacity of 3000 kg per cassette. The whole long goods store was set in a 3 meter deep excavation to maximize its storage capacity. Loading and unloading takes place at a total of 3 loading and unloading stations. A lateral station is situated at the front, and two lengthwise stations at the level of the two saws. Operation is by the INTERTEX INT-DSC1 pre-selector control.
Another drive-over bearing was installed in 2018. 26 more towers with a total of 563 more cassettes were added. With a length of more than 41m (!), it is an impressive storage system, which creates an unbelievable storage area of 3,200m² on a floor space of just 380m².
In both systems, more than 2,700 tons of long goods such as steel pipes, sheet steel and solid material up to 6m in length can be stored in a total of 913 cassettes.
